BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Following Mississippi State football's 38-15 victory over in-state opponent Southern Miss, senior center Darryl Williams was selected as SEC Co-Offensive Lineman of the Week, the league office announced Monday.
The honor is the second of Williams' career. The Bessemer, Alabama, native first took home SEC Offensive Lineman of the Week laurels following State's 37-7 victory versus LSU in 2017.
A preseason All-SEC selection, Williams graded out the highest among the offensive line for a Bulldog rushing attack that produced 210 yards. He allowed zero pressures in his start at center on Saturday.
Southern Miss entered the game having not allowed 20 or more points in 12 consecutive games, representing the fifth longest streak in the nation. The Golden Eagles' defense had not surrendered a 100-yard rusher in 15 contests.
MSU continues a three-game homestand when it hosts Kansas State at 11 a.m. Saturday on ESPN. The Wildcats will be the first Power 5 opponent to visit Starkville since Georgia Tech in 2009.
