No. 27 Bulldogs Return to Schooner Fall Classic

NORMAN, Okla. – Looking to build off of two sixth-place finishes, the Mississippi State women's golf team travels back to Norman, Oklahoma, this week to compete in the Schooner Fall Classic.
The Bulldogs will play 54 holes over three days at the par-70, 6,048-yard Belmar Golf Club against a 15-team field. The field consists of host Oklahoma along with Alabama, Baylor, Clemson, Florida State, Houston, Illinois, Louisville, Miami, Notre Dame, TCU, Texas, Texas A&M and Texas State.
State's lineup for the event is Aubree Jones, Clara Moyano, Ashley Gilliam, Blair Stockett and Abbey Daniel, while Athena Yang will be competing as an individual. MSU will tee off the opening round Friday with a 10:40 a.m. CT start, while Yang will tee off at 10:20 a.m. The Bulldogs play their final round on Sunday.
Last time out, the Bulldogs finished sixth at the Mason Rudolph Invitational. Jones led the team with a top-five finish, after carding two rounds under par.
This tournament holds a more special place in the heart of this team than just wins; they get to endure the humbling experience of the OK Kids Korral. The OKKC has been helping families for many years through the work of the Toby Keith Foundation, sheltering sick children's families and giving the kids an escape.
"This event is one of the top 10 in the country and means so much more than competition," said head coach Ginger Brown-Lemm. "We have the opportunity to spend an evening with kids and their families that are fighting cancer. The OK Kids Korral is an amazing residential facility that is a no cost living situation for the entire family while children are there fighting horrible disease."
