Dawgs Move Up the Leaderboard, Jones With a Top-Five Finish

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Bulldogs closed out the Mason Rudolph Invitational by firing a final-round of 291. Mississippi State ended the three-round event hosted by Vanderbilt, carding a total of 876 and shooting 12-over par to finished sixth.
"As expected, today's course setup was the most challenging of the event," said head coach Ginger Brown-Lemm. "Conditions were also challenging with 10-15 miles per hour winds all day. We were incredibly consistent with our process and our plan for this final round. Seeing our squad continue to be committed to what we know works is a huge win for us. We are just getting started on building the confidence to be able to compete with top-10 teams. We have great leadership, commitment to each other and a never quit attitude. Hail State!"
Junior Aubree Jones shot her best score of the weekend (69) to be 3-under par for the day and 2-under par for the weekend. She led the way for the Bulldogs strong finish, earning the second top-5 finish of her career after tying for fifth in the 81-member field.
Senior Clara Moyano shot 1-over par on the last day, carding a total of 219 for the 3-day event to tie for 19th. Tied for 23rd, freshman Ashley Gilliam finished 2-over par (74) for the final round.
Junior Blair Stockett finished tied at 60th, shooting 13-over par, rolling in eight birdies total over the weekend. Freshman Abbey Daniel came back strong on the last day of the event, moving up the leaderboard to tie for 64th.
State returns to action on Sept. 27-29 at the Schooner Fall Classic in Norman, Oklahoma. The event is hosted by University of Oklahoma, home of the Sooners.
