
Bulldogs Finish 14th At Commodore Classic

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Mississippi State women's cross country team earned a 14th-place finish on Saturday at Vanderbilt's Commodore Classic.
"We have to be the same team regardless of a good performance or poor performance," head coach Patrick McGregor said. "Any competitor is compelled to evaluate what's happened so that they can apply what they have learned."
Sylvia Russell paced the Bulldogs, finishing 35th with a time of 22:18.9.
After Russell's finish, Sydney Steely (63rd), Kristy Terp (86th), Ava Weems (88th) and Mary Beth Woodward (127th) rounded out the top five for MSU. Silvia De La Pena Garibay made her collegiate debut, finishing the race in 24:28.2.
Ole Miss took the team title in the women's 6K with 76 points and four top-20 finishers.
Next, the Bulldogs will turn their attention to the Louisville Classic, held Saturday, Oct. 5 in Louisville, Ky.
