
Bulldogs Finish Sixth At Branch Law Firm/Dick McGuire Invitational

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – In its season opener, Mississippi State women's golf placed sixth in the Branch Law Firm/Dick McGuire Invitational at the UNM Championship Course on Tuesday.
The Bulldogs ended the two-day, three-round invitational hosted by New Mexico, carding a total of 867 and shooting 3-over par.
"It was a great beginning to what we think will be an incredibly strong year," said head coach Ginger Brown-Lemm. "We were 10-under par for two of the three rounds, and that is what will propel us to meet goals and win championships."
Senior Clara Moyano shot even (72) for the day, rolling in 4 birdies to lead the Bulldogs. She finished up placing 12th for the invitational overall.
Junior Blair Stockett, who tied for 14th in the event, ended up 2-under par for the day and 1-over for the invitational, while freshman Ashley Gilliam was 1-under par in the closing round. Gilliam finished the Branch Law Firm/Dick McGuire Invitational tied for 23rd.
Also tied for 23rd, junior Aubree Jones shot a total of 219, ending up 3-over par for the two-day event.
Sophomore Lauren Miller tied for 51st after shooting a total of 226 (10-over par). She rolled in 7 birdies during the event.
Freshman Ally Williams finished the final round 11-over par (227) and tied for 58th.
The Bulldogs will be back in action Sept. 20-22 competing in the Mason Rudolph Invitational. They will be playing in Nashville, Tennessee, at the Vanderbilt Legends North Course.
