MSU Freshman Antonaki Named First Alternate To 2019 NCAA Singles Championship

STARKVILLE – A strong freshman season by Mississippi State women's tennis' Emma Antonaki has garnered the Second-Team All-SEC honoree the first alternate position to the 2019 NCAA Singles Championship, the NCAA announced Tuesday. The 64-player tournament will be held May 20-25 at the USTA National Campus in Orlando, Florida.
The true freshman Antonaki has registered an outstanding first season a Bulldog. A product of Athens, Greece, she is 25-12 in singles and 20-13 in doubles. She notched an impressive 17-7 dual match singles record as a rookie, playing all of her matches at the top two positions in State's lineup. She was 6-5 in SEC play with five ranked wins.
Currently ranked 59th in the country in singles, Antonaki has eight wins over nationally-ranked foes overall in 2018-19, three in the top 40.
The final NCAA individual draws will be released prior to the start of the singles and doubles championships on May 20.
