Storylines
- State has claimed six out of the last seven meetings with the Razorbacks. Four out of the last six games have been decided in the final minutes with a Bulldog making a memorable play in each of State's four victories.
- Last year against the Hogs, Nick Fitzgerald threw four touchdown passes and ran for another score to lead No. 25 MSU to a 52-6 win. It was State's largest margin of victory in the all-time series. Aeris Williams added 104 yards rushing on 15 carries. MSU's defense held Arkansas to just 219 total yards and was led by Johnathan Abram, who had 12 tackles, including 3.5 for a loss and 1.5 sacks.
- RB Kylin Hill erupted for 150 rushing yards and a touchdown last week at Texas A&M to reclaim the SEC rushing lead and notch his fifth 100-yard game on the ground this season. Hill enters Saturday's game with 793 rushing yards and six TDs.
- Making his third career start, QB Garrett Shrader threw a career-high three touchdown passes last week against the Aggies to give him at least one scoring toss in four straight games. Shrader became the fourth MSU QB since 2000 to record 1,000 passing yards and 500 rushing yards in a single season, joining Nick Fitzgerald (2016, 2017, 2018), Dak Prescott (2013, 2014, 2015) and Chris Relf (2010).
- WR Isaiah Zuber, a graduate transfer from Kansas State, was on the receiving end of two of QB Garrett Shrader's three passing touchdowns at Texas A&M. Zuber's first touchdown catch of the game from 14 yards out was also his first as a Bulldog. His second touchdown of the day was a 38-yard strike from Shrader, who also had a 32-yard TD throw to WR Stephen Guidry.
- C Darryl Williams is a team captain, preseason All-American and candidate for the Senior CLASS Award and Rimington and Outland Trophies. He has started 33 (total career starts with eight at center) of the Bulldogs' last 34 games and allowed just one sack since the start of the 2017 season (at Kentucky in 2018). He is one of six SEC centers who hasn't allowed a sack this season (minimum 200 pass blocking snaps).
- The Bulldogs have relied heavily on its freshmen this season. Eighteen such players (9 true, 9 redshirt) have played multiple games through the first seven contests, while 15 sophomores and seven transfers (4 JUCO) have played at least one game. In addition, sixteen different Bulldogs have seen game action for the first time, while 15 have earned starts for the first time. True freshman CB Martin Emerson earned his first career start vs. No. 2 LSU two weeks ago in place of CB Maurice Smitherman, who fell victim to a season-ending injury. Last week at Texas A&M, true freshman CB Jarrian Jones got his first career start in place of injured CB Cameron Dantzler.
