State Commences ITA All-American Main Draw Wednesday; Adaloglou Posts Two Ranked Victories

TULSA, Okla. – Mississippi State's women's tennis squad will open competition in the main draw of the 2019 Saint Francis Health System ITA All-American Championships in Tulsa, Oklahoma, Wednesday at the Case Tennis Center at LaFortune Park. In qualifying consolation action Tuesday, Magda Adaloglou had a huge day with two wins against ranked opponents.
In Wednesday's opening round of the 64-player singles draw, 41st-ranked sophomore Emma Antonaki will represent the Bulldogs. She will face North Carolina's third-seeded and fourth-ranked Alexa Graham Wednesday at Noon CT.
In the 32-team doubles field, State's 14th-ranked duo of Adaloglou and Tamara Racine will battle UCF's fifth-seeded and seventh-ranked pair of Ksenia Kuznetsova and Valeriya Zeleva in first-round play Wednesday. That match is slated for a 3:30 p.m. CT start.
MSU's Adaloglou, ranked 115th nationally in singles, had quite a day Tuesday as she wrapped up play in qualifying singles consolation action, defeating two nationally-ranked competitors. The junior began the day with an impressive 6-1, 6-1 victory over No. 76 Maddie Pothoff from Santa Clara before overpowering Wake Forest's 101st-ranked Eliza Omirou 6-3, 6-2.
Adaloglou's performance Tuesday marked the first time in her career that she recorded wins against two nationally-ranked players in consecutive matches.
There will be no live coverage at the Case Tennis Center at LaFortune Park.
