FLORANCE, Alabama – Freshman Hunter Logan carded a career best day to lead four Mississippi State men's golfers who wrapped up two rounds of action at the 2019 TVA Community Credit Union Invitational on Tuesday.
The Steens, Miss. native posted the tournament's best round out of the 71 player field on Tuesday after he shot a collegiate best 5-under, 67.
"I putted really well today," Logan said. "Coach Smith walked with me and helped me a lot out there, especially on putting. I was able to hit some good iron shots into the greens, and Coach Smith helped me convert the putts on the greens."
In the second round, Logan got off to a hot start as he carded six birdies and strung together 15 holes before he bogeyed his 16th hole of the day.
He finshed the event tied for 16th place which resulted in his second top 20 finish of the season.
Junior Griffin Agent's iron play was phenomenal over the two-day span and finished one stroke behind the field leader on par three's. Agent shot 2-over the first day and improved his round Tuesday by two shots to bolt up the leader board 14 spots to end tied for 21st.
Freshman William Wann remained constant both rounds and wrote a 74 on his scorecard each day. He tied for 26th place, his highest finish at State.
Sophomore Austin Vukovits' first round highlighted his tournament. He fired three birdies to finish the front nine 2-under. He posted scores of 75 and 78 during his two rounds.
The event champion, UAB's Alfie Fox, finished 6-under. He won the event by three strokes. Due to inclement weather after round one, the field only played 36 holes.
State will now turn all of their attention to the final tournament of the fall slate. The Steelwood Intercollegiate will tee off October 26 at the Steelwood CC in Mobile, Ala.
