ATLANTA- The Mississippi State men's tennis team had a solid opening day at the Georgia Tech Invitational Saturday as the Bulldogs went 6-4 with Florian Broska going undefeated on the day in singles and doubles, reaching the Olde Gold doubles draw finals with partner Stedman Strickland.

The top seed in the Olde Gold Draw, Broska and Strickland highlighted the morning by going 2-0 in doubles play. The duo met Clemson's Gabriel Diez Freire and Yi Liu in the first round, posting a 6-4 victory. The Bulldog pair then met Vanderbilt's tandem of Marcus Ferreira and Panu Virtanen in the semifinals. Broska and Strickland continued their success by ousting the Vandy pair 6-2. The Bulldog team will play in the Olde Gold finals Monday morning at 9 a.m. ET against the Tennessee tandem of Jordan Chrysostom and Pat Harper.

In the White draw, the top-seeded Bulldog pair of Gregor Ramskogler and Davide Tortora received a first-round bye and then met Tedor Giusca and Jacob Jahn of Clemson and, falling 6-3. The pair will play again Monday at 9 a.m. ET for third place against Miami's pair of France Aubone and Benjamin Hannestad.

Lastly in doubles was the Bulldog duo of Isaac Becroft and Nicolas Ocana who met James Ignatowich and Adam Scraberg of Vanderbilt in the first round of the Navy draw. Becroft and Ocana fought hard but ultimately fell 7-5 to the Commodores. They immediately played again in the consolation finals against Miami's Pablo Schelcher and Tatsuki Shimamoto, ousting the Hurricanes 7-6(3) in a tight affair.

In singles play, the Bulldogs pulled out three singles victories overall. Broska and Ocana got the ball rolling in the Olde Gold Draw. Broska met Miami's William Grattan-Smith. The two battled a long three-setter which ended with Broska pulling out a tough 7-6(3), 0-6, 7-5 triumph. Broska will now meet Clemson's Diez Freire Sunday at 8 a.m. ET in the quarterfinals. Ocana met Georgia's Erik Grevelius in his first-round match and cruised to a comfortable 6-2, 6-3 victory. The freshman will now play Miami's Benjamin Hannestad Sunday at 8 a.m. ET, also in the quarters.

Freshman Davide Tortora and sophomore Gregor Ramskogler competed in the White draw. The top-seeded Tortora met Vanderbilt's Panu Virtanen in an exciting three-set match, downing the Commodore 3-6, 6-3, 6-4. Tortora will meet Harper of Tennessee in the quarterfinals Sunday at 8 a.m. ET. Ramskogler met Clemson's Teodor Giusca in his first-round match but had a tough outing, dropping a 6-2, 6-2 decision. Ramskogler will now play in the consolation semifinals on Sunday at 9:30 a.m. ET against South Carolina's Phillip Jordan.

Representing the Maroon and White in the Navy draw was the junior Strickland and freshman Becroft. Strickland met Auburn's Diego Chavarria in his opener, falling 6-2, 6-2. Strickland will play in the consolation bracket, and after receiving a bye, will await the winner of Michael Durham of Auburn or Adam Sraberg of Vanderbilt at 2:30 p.m. ET Saturday. After receiving the No. 2 seed in the Navy bracket, Becroft was granted a first-round bye and will play Georgia's Sam Dromsky in the quarterfinals Sunday at 9 a.m. ET.
