Women's Basketball Remains No. 7/6 in Weekly Polls

STARKVILLE – Mississippi State's women's basketball team stayed put at Nos. 7 and 6 in the Associated Press and USA Today Coaches' Polls, respectively, this week following a 2-0 start to SEC play.
State has now extended its ranking streak to 84 consecutive weeks. The Bulldogs have been in the Top 10 for 48 straight weeks, the fourth-longest streak in the nation.
The Bulldogs host Georgia on Thursday night in Humphrey Coliseum where they have won 28 consecutive games. Tipoff is set for 8 p.m. CT on the SEC Network.
State is second in the country in scoring offense (92.2 ppg) and leads the country in both scoring margin (+37.7) and total blocks (107). MSU is 3-1 against teams in the AP Top 25 this year with wins against then-No. 10 Texas, then-No. 18 Marquette and No. 16 Kentucky.
Teaira McCowan and Anriel Howard each recorded double-doubles on Sunday evening, bringing their combined total to 87 for their careers, the most of any pair of teammates in Division I. Jordan Danberry was named the SEC Co-Player of the Week on Tuesday morning after averaging 21.5 points and 6.0 rebounds in the past two games.
Following Thursday's contest, the Bulldogs head to Auburn for a Monday night tilt against the Tigers on Jan. 14 at 6 p.m.
