MSU Remains No. 7/6 in National Polls, McCowan Earns National Honors

STARKVILLE – After defeating then-No. 15 South Carolina to win its 21st consecutive SEC game, Mississippi State's women's basketball team remained Nos. 7 and 6 in the Associated Press and USA Today Coaches' polls, respectively.
The Bulldogs are the highest-ranked team in the conference and have now been ranked in the AP poll for 86 straight weeks. State has been a Top 10 team in the poll for 50 consecutive weeks, the fourth-longest streak in the nation.
MSU is among the top 15 in the country in 11 statistical categories. The Bulldogs lead the nation in scoring margin (+34.2 ppg) and scoring offense (90.9 ppg). State is second in offensive rebounding (19 rpg), free throws made (311) and rebound margin (+17.7). The Bulldogs are fifth in field goal percentage (50.4 percent) and 11th in assist/turnover ratio (1.33).
Teaira McCowan also earned national recognition this week. After picking up her fourth SEC Player of the Week honor of the year, the Brenham, Texas, native was also named the ESPNW and Naismith National Player of the Week. She scored 26 points and collected 24 rebounds against South Carolina last week.
The Bulldogs will travel to take on Florida on Thursday evening. Tipoff from Gainesville is set for 6 p.m. CT with the game airing on SEC Network+.
