Â
STARKVILLE – Looking to build off a ninth-place finish at season-opening Mary Fossom Invitational, the Mississippi State women's golf team returns to action this weekend as it travels to Norman, Oklahoma, to compete in the Schooner Fall Classic.
Â
The Bulldogs will play 54 holes over three days at the Par-71, 6,063-yard Belmar Golf Club against a stacked 15-team field that includes No. 3 Alabama and No. 6 Texas, as well as fellow SEC competitor Texas A&M.
Â
The action begins Friday morning, with the Bulldogs teeing off No. 1 starting at 10:20 a.m. Aubree Jones starts the day for MSU followed by Clara Moyano, Hannah Levi, Lauren Miller and Ela Grimwood.
Â
Blair Stockett will play as an individual and begin the tournament, her first of the season, on No. 10 at 10:40 a.m.
Â
Live stats for all three rounds can be found at GolfStat.com. Live coverage of Friday's round will be televised on Fox Sports Oklahoma and Fox College Sports Central from Noon to 3 p.m. CT. On Sunday, a live stream of Hole No. 18 will be available on SoonerSports.TV.
Â
Coach Ginger Brown-Lemm heads to the University of Oklahoma-hosted event eager to see how the squad has progressed since the season-opening tournament in East Lansing, Michigan.
Â
"Collectively, this team is progressing, and we have seen some great scores going into this event," Brown-Lemm said. "I believe this lineup is ready for the conditions at the Belmar Club we are returning to. This event means so much to us, with the opportunity to visit and support the children at the OK Kids Korral. We are humbled by our opportunities at Mississippi State and look forward to our best event yet!"
Â
Jones enters her first action of the season looking to follow an impressive showing in last year's Schooner Fall Classic that saw her record the 18th-lowest 54-hole total in program annuals (213) in tying for 21st.
Â
Grimwood hopes to build on a stellar season opener that saw her post a career-best ninth-place finish behind her best 54-hole finish as a Bulldog (220).
Â
Moyano makes her second-straight appearance in the lineup after tying for 33rd at the Mary Fossom Invitational.
Â
Levi and Miller look to build on solid final rounds in the season-opener in Michigan. Levi capped her MSU debut with a final-round 72, while Miller followed closely behind with a 74.
