Men’s Golf Inks Penn State Transfer Daniel Martinez

STARKVILLE, Miss. – With signees Austin Vukovits and Ford Clegg set to join in the fall, the Mississippi State men's golf team got a little bigger on Monday with the addition of transfer Daniel Martinez.
Martinez, an Austin, Texas, native, spent a year at Penn State before deciding to become a Bulldog.
"We are very excited about Daniel joining our Mississippi State golf family," Dusty Smith, who is entering his second year as MSU head coach, said. "He is a high-character young man who has a desire to be great in everything he does, and he is a proven player who will be a huge asset to our program."
Martinez is immediately eligible for the 2018-19 season.
In his freshman season with the Nittany Lions, Martinez participated in one tournament, the Tennessee Intercollegiate, where he carded a 69 in his first collegiate round.
Prior to college, Martinez was a member of three Texas State Championship teams with Vandegrift High School and a three-time All-State honoree.
Martinez also took second place in the 2016 AJGA Junior Golf Hub Championship, 18th at the 2016 Southern Junior Championship and 12th at the AJGA Under Armour Jordan Spieth Championship.
