Four Mississippi State Athletes Earn All-SEC Selections
May 16, 2018 | Track & Field
STARKVILLE, Miss. – After winning medals at the SEC Championships, four Mississippi State track and field athletes have earned All-SEC honors.
Anderson Peters and Rhianwedd Price-Weimer were named to the first team, while Marco Arop and Nicolas Quijera earned second-team selections.
"We are very proud of these four athletes," head coach Steve Dudley said. "The SEC is hands-down the most difficult conference to compete in. It takes a very high-level performance to earn all-conference honors."
Peters won the javelin with a conference-meet-record throw of 82.04m (169-2). That mark also leads the NCAA this season. He was joined on the podium by Quijera, who placed third in the event. Quijera's best mark this season ranks fourth in the country.
Arop finished second in the 800m while breaking his own MSU freshman record with a time of 1:47.45. He is the second-fastest Canadian in the world this season, trailing only former Bulldog Brandon McBride.
Price-Weimer, the 2015 NCAA Champion in the 1500m, won her first conference title in the same event. Her season-best of 4:10.31 is second in the NCAA this year.
The Bulldogs will compete at the NCAA East Prelims on May 24-26 in Tampa, Fla.
