Rentouli Named To SEC Community Service Team

STARKVILLE, Miss. – Giving it her best on and off the courts, Mississippi State junior women's tennis standout Anastasia Rentouli has been named to the 2018 Southeastern Conference Community Service Team, the league office announced on Tuesday.
All SEC-sponsored sports have had a Community Service Team since 2004, with at-large teams for men's and women's sports being chosen from 1999-2003. MSU's Rentouli earned the distinction for the Bulldogs last season as well.
"It is a true honor to be named to the SEC Community Service Team," Rentouli said. "It has been a joy to help our community and a pleasure to see that my time can help others."
Rentouli was one of 14 members on the SEC Community Service Team for women's tennis, with all teams submitting members for the 2018 season.
A native of Athens, Greece, Rentouli has made a huge impact on the MSU campus and Starkville community since joining the squad in the fall of 2015. The junior has attended monthly M-Club meetings, while serving as a liaison from her team to athletic administration with SAAC. In the fall, Rentouli participated in the SEC Career Tour.
"Our athletic department does a great job creating a culture of giving back to the local community," head coach Daryl Greenan said. "Our tennis team enjoys getting involved and representing Mississippi State doing volunteer work in their spare time. I am proud of our whole team and how they are learning to give and expect nothing in return. Ana has been a model student-athlete since arriving in Starkville and is very deserving of this award."
In the Starkville community, Rentouli volunteered her time at local schools for "Read Across America" and "JA of Starkville Reading Railroad". She also volunteered for both "National Girls and Women In Sports Day" activities. In addition, She gave her time at the Dawg Walk for Breast Cancer Awareness and the TK Martin Fun Run where she encouraged participants along the route.
In her hometown of Athens, Rentouli volunteered at the Mosaico House during Christmas break, a refugee camp where she entertained kids with various activities, aided in Christmas workshops, and helped with the children's' homework.

Rentouli and the 30th-ranked Bulldogs, seeded seventh in the 2018 SEC Championship, will face 10th-seeded and 39th-ranked LSU in the second round of the tournament (being held in Knoxville, Tenn.) this Thursday, April 19, at 8 a.m. CT.
