MSU Women’s Tennis Travels To Louisiana For Thursday Doubleheader

STARKVILLE, Miss. – After a strong outing at home this past Sunday, the Mississippi State women's tennis team (4-2) will travel to Hammond, La., to face Southeastern Louisiana (0-1) and Southern University (0-3) in a twinbill Thursday. The first match against SLU is slated for 5 p.m. CT at the Southeastern Tennis Complex. The second match with Southern will begin shortly after.
The matches were originally scheduled for Friday and Sunday, but were moved up due to persistent rains predicted throughout this weekend.
Last Time Out for MSU…
In the Sunday doubleheader, the Bulldogs blanked Samford, 4-0, before defeating UAB 4-1. The Bulldog duo of Magda Adaloglou and Janina Braun plus the MSU tandem of Sara Lizariturry and Anastasia Rentouli went 2-0 on Sunday.
In singles, Braun clinched the Samford victory and Rentouli clinched the UAB triumph. Senior Khrystyna Vozniak led the Maroon & White with two singles victories, now riding a five-match win streak. Bulldogs Madison Harrison and Adaloglou also picked up singles victories.
About Southeastern Louisiana and Southern University…
Southeastern Louisiana enters the weekend 0-1. The Tigers fell in a tough 4-3 decision to Louisiana in their season opener.
Southern University stands 0-3 after falling 7-0 to Houston last Saturday.
What to Note As MSU Faces SLU and SU
· The SLU contest will be MSU's first true road match of the 2018 season
· State leads the head-to-head series with SLU 5-1
· This is the first matchup since 2008, when the Bulldogs blanked the Tigers 7-0 in Starkville
· This is the first match between the two teams in Hammond
· The Maroon & White leads the all-time series against Southern Univeristy 2-0
· In the last meeting, MSU defeated the Jaguars, 6-1, in Starkville during the 2012 season
· Senior Khrystyna Vozniak remains undefeated in singles dual action and holds a five-match winning streak
