Women’s Basketball Holds Steady at No. 6 in AP Poll

STARKVILLE – After an impressive top-10 win at Texas, the Mississippi State women's basketball team remained at No. 6 in this week's Associated Press Top 25 Poll.
The Bulldogs held the then-No. 10 Longhorns to just 49 points, marking the first time State has ever kept a top-10 squad under 50. MSU also traveled to Little Rock on Wednesday, claiming a 98-63 victory over the Trojans.
State has now extended its ranking streak to 79 consecutive weeks and has been in the Top 10 for 43 straight weeks. MSU is one of two teams to have its football, men's basketball and women's basketball teams all ranked in the AP poll (Kentucky).
Vic Schaefer's team is the highest of five SEC programs in the Top 25. The Bulldogs are among the top-15 in the nation in 15 different statistical categories. MSU tops the nation in scoring margin (+46.4) and is third in scoring offense, averaging 93.8 ppg.
State also leads the country in total blocks (64) and blocks per game (8.0). Individually, Teaira McCowan is second in the country with 25 total blocks and is third in the country with six double-doubles this season.
The Bulldogs return home Thursday for their second ranked matchup in as many games. MSU will host No. 18 Marquette with tipoff set for 7 p.m. on SEC Network+. Fans can purchase tickets to the matchup on HailState.com/Tickets.
