SURPRISE, Ariz./PELHAM, Ala. – A solid doubles run by Mississippi State's seventh-ranked Niclas Braun and Giovanni Oradini ended on Friday night in the quarterfinals of the 2018 Oracle ITA National Fall Championships.
The duo, seeded fifth in the draw, dropped a hard-fought 6-3, 7-6(4) decision to UNC Asheville's Oli Nolan and Henry Patten.
Braun and Oradini had reached the quarterfinals with a pair of dramatic, three-set triumphs.
In Pelham at the Samford Fall Invite, State's Gregor Ramskogler and Stedman Strickland dropped a pair of tough matches to open play there, falling in a tight 7-6(5) decision to UAB's Giovani Pasini and Fernando Vargas and 6-2 to Lucas de Torres Curth and Sebastian Osorio of Kennesaw State in consolation action.
