Miller, Jones Lead Bulldogs In Battle At The Beach Round Two

SAN JOSE del CABO, Mexico – Another competitive round at the Club Campestre San Jose Golf Club put the Mississippi State women's golf team in eighth place entering Sunday's final round of the Battle at the Beach in San Jose Del Cabo, Mexico.
The Bulldogs matched Friday's opening round with a 10-over par 294. State wrapped the first 36 holes of play 20-over with a 588.
"We had a lot of opportunities today between the calm weather, golf course and playing our way into the lead pairing," said Ginger Brown Lemm. "We hit the ball well today but did not capitalize on our birdie chances. That was our ticket to scoring today. We had great body language throughout the day, but we couldn't make the putts to move up the leaderboard. We're looking forward to a great day tomorrow and rolling in some birdies."
Sophomore Aubree Jones and freshman Lauren Miller enter final-round play tied for 17th after carding a pair of solid rounds on Saturday.
Jones matched her Friday tally with a second-straight 73 on the par-71, 6,202-yard course. After opening with a 72 in her opening round, Miller shot a 74 on Saturday.
Freshman Hannah Levi shaved a stroke off her opening round, firing a 74 on Saturday to sit in a tie for 37th after 36 holes.
Junior Clara Moyano bounced back from a tough first round and shaved four shots off her tally to card a 2-over 73 that moved her into a tie for 44th.
Sophomore Blair Stockett wrapped the day tied for 77th.
Sunday's third and final round will begin with a shotgun start at 9:15 a.m. CT. Live stats can be found at www.BirdieFire.com.
