No. 6 MSU Caps Homestand With 67-Point Win

STARKVILLE – No. 6 Mississippi State topped 100 points for a fourth straight game as the Bulldogs capped a four-game home stand with a 105-38 win against Jackson State in women's basketball action Saturday afternoon at Humphrey Coliseum.
Teaira McCown led the Bulldogs with 19 points, followed by Jordan Danberry (16 points), Bre'Amber Scott (14 points), Andra Espinoza-Hunter (13 points) and Anriel Howard (11 points).
For Arkansas natives Danberry and Scott, both were career highs.
Jessika Carter had a team-high eight rebounds and six blocked shots. Myah Taylor had six assists, while Danberry had three steals.
The Bulldogs (6-0) have scored 77 or more points in all six games this season. On defense, all six opponents have been held to 53 points or less.
"We came out offensively and were very good," MSU head coach Vic Schaefer said. "Our transition game was good. We didn't make as many threes as we normally do. Bre'Amber Scott did a great job off the bench. I wanted her to be the first one in today. She really delivered."
MSU has now won 42 straight non-conference games in the regular season. The Bulldogs won their 25th straight game at home, which ties for the fourth-best active streak in program history.
The Bulldogs scored 10 straight points to open a 16-6 lead. A jumper by Howard capped that run. An additional 10-0 run ran the lead to 29-11 after one quarter.
In the early stages of the second quarter, a 12-0 run pushed the lead to 41-13 with 7:35 left in the half. A 3-pointer by Xaria Wiggins ran the lead to 61-21 with 1:33 left in the half.
The Bulldogs enjoyed a 60-point half for the fourth time this season, with a 61-22 lead at halftime.
In the third quarter, the Bulldogs scored 29 points to build a 90-32 lead heading into the final 10 minutes.
For the contest, the Bulldogs hit 37 of 73 shots from the field (50.7 percent), 8 of 23 shots from 3-point range (34.8 percent) and 23 of 31 shots from the foul line (74.2 percent). The Tigers hit 16 of 50 shots from the field (32.0 percent), 1 of 6 shots from 3-point range (16.7 percent) and 5 of 13 shots from the foul line (38.5 percent).
MSU held a 48-30 rebounding advantage. The Bulldogs had 21 assists and seven turnovers, while the Tigers had seven assists and 25 turnovers.
Jackson State (1-4) received 10 points from Antionette Womack.
MSU will play at Little Rock at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday.
