STARKVILLE, Miss. – Looking ahead to the 2019-20 campaign, Mississippi State women's tennis head coach Daryl Greenan announced the signing of a highly-laurelled junior on Monday. Burlington, Ontario, Canada's, Alexandra Mikhailuk has signed a National Letter of Intent to join the Bulldogs next August.
Mikhailuk comes to Starkville after training with Ace Tennis Academy in Ontario for the brunt of her young career. The State signee also holds a highly-regarded current UTR of 11.35 and career high 11.41.
In 2017, Mikhailuk finished top three in U16 Canadian singles and finished second in doubles. She also ranked top six U16 nationally, and was deemed the ITF G5 Singles Champion and doubles finalist. Also in '17, she claimed the All Canadian Indoor Open Championship, while adding the ATI Indoor Open title, as well.
Additionally, Mikhailuk competed on the International Tennis Federation Junior Circuit, earning singles and doubles titles and a career high ranking of 550 in February of 2018. She has most recently been competing on the ITF women's circuit, earning a world singles ranking of 1,224 this summer.
"I am extremely excited to welcome Alex to the Bulldog Family," said Greenan. "She is a tremendous talent and an even better person. I am confident Alex will fit in well and make an immediate impact on our program."
