STARKVILLE – Another national player of the year watch list includes Mississippi State's Teaira McCowan.
The Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) announced Tuesday that the Bulldogs' senior center was named to the Wade Trophy Watch List for the top player in college basketball.
McCowan has been dominant in the paint for Vic Schaefer's Bulldogs, averaging 17.5 points, 12.8 rebounds and a nation's-best 5.3 blocks per game.
In addition to topping the country in blocks, McCowan rates 17th in rebounds per game and 30th in field goal percentage with an SEC-leading 65.9 percent clip.
The Brenham, Texas, native has recorded three double-doubles this season, bringing her career total to 42.
McCowan has tallied double figures in 10-straight games going back to an All-American junior season. She has scored 20 or more points in seven of those contests.
For her career, she moved into 10th on State's all-time scoring list with 1,350 points, and her 1,066 rebounds are 42 away from LaToya Thomas' record.

McCowan and the 4-0 Bulldogs cap a four-game homestand this week. State first hosts Furman at 2 p.m. Wednesday, with fans who bring a can a food getting a free general admission ticket.
MSU wraps the four-game stint against Jackson State Saturday at 2 p.m.
