PACIFIC PALISADES, Calif. – Day three on the west coast saw continued success for the Mississippi State women's tennis squad at the ITA All-American Championships. In qualifying doubles play, the undefeated tandem of Magda Adaloglou and Emma Antonaki remained that way to extend their stay in the Golden State.
Â
The State duo remained perfect this fall following their fourth straight victory. The Bulldog pair toppled 60th-ranked Elisa Mai Koonik and Tessa Van Der Ploeg of Wyoming – 8-4 – in the opening match of doubles qualifying play on Tuesday.Â
Â
Adaloglou and Antonaki will attempt to enter the championship's main draw on Wednesday, as the final two rounds of doubles are contested. The MSU pair will need to win twice to advance to Thursday's main draw. They will battle Florida State's 55th-ranked team of Emmanuelle Salas and Carla Touly on Wednesday in the second round. The Seminole tandem is coming off an upset triumph over eighth-seeded and 36th-ranked Jackie Carr and Tatum Rice of Arkansas.
After winning three matches in prequalifying over the weekend, Adaloglou also opened singles qualifying competition on Tuesday, but fell in straight sets to top-seeded and 21st-ranked Anna Turati of Texas – 6-1, 6-0 – in her opener. She went on to drop a 6-1, 5-7, 6-3  decision to Oregon's Daniela Nasser in a first-round consolation contest Tuesday evening.
