State To Host Colgate For Senior Day

STARKVILLE, Miss. – Aiming to continue its hot start to open the season, the Mississippi State soccer team (4-0) is set to host Colgate (1-3) at 11 a.m. on Sunday, Sept. 3, at the MSU Soccer Field.
State's 10 seniors will be honored prior to the match for Senior Day. The first 100 fans will receive free ice cream while free maroon stadium cups will be given out to the first 250 fans. Also, the first 100 students in attendance will have a chance to win $10,000. Admission is free.
"Colgate is always good every year," MSU coach Tom Anagnost said. "They keep the ball very well and are battle-tested. It will be another difficult challenge for us."
The match will be streamed live on SEC Network+, with Anthony Craven and Robbie Kroger on the call.
MSU is looking to build off its 4-0 start—the best start by an MSU team since 2012. Last Sunday, the Bulldogs won their third shutout of the season with a 3-0 win against Central Arkansas on goals by MaKayla Waldner (4') and Courtney Robicheaux (6') followed by an own goal (55'). Catalina Perez also tallied a season-high four saves.
This is the first meeting between the Raiders and the Bulldogs on the pitch.

Colgate comes to Starkville after getting its first win of the year by defeating UMass-Lowell 1-0 on Thursday, Aug. 31. Emily Crichlow scored the game-winner in the 79th minute off of a corner kick. The Raiders outshot UML 26-10 and won the corner kick battle 7-2.
The Raiders were projected to finish fourth in the 10-team Patriot League in the preseason. They return senior midfielder Eliza Doll, who was named Patriot League Midfielder of the Year in 2016.
Next Up For MSU
The Bulldogs will head to the Sunshine State to take on South Florida at 6 p.m. CT on Thursday, Sept. 7, before returning home to host South Alabama on Sunday, Sept. 10, in the final match before beginning Southeastern Conference action.
