State Prepares For First Road Match Of 2017

STARKVILLE, Miss. โ Looking to build off of its 2-0 start to open the season, the Mississippi State soccer team will make its first road trip of the 2017 regular season.

State will travel to Ruston, La., to face Louisiana Tech on Thursday, Aug. 24, with kickoff from the Lady Techster Soccer Complex set for 7 p.m. The match will be streamed live on CUSA.tv (subscription required) and fans can also follow along via live stats.

"Louisiana Tech will be another difficult test for this team," MSU coach Tom Anagnost said. "It is a program that knows how to win games with good players."

In Friday's opener, the Bulldogs earned a 1-0 win against Stephen F. Austin on a goal by MaKayla Waldner in the 56th minute in front of a program-record crowd of 1,349.

On Sunday, State weathered a triple-digit heat index to win a hard-fought 2-1 battle with Missouri State. A.K. Ward and Brooke McKee each scored their first goals in the Maroon and White, with McKee's game-winner coming on a header off of a corner kick by Mallory Eubanks.

The Bulldogs and Lady Techsters have only met once on the pitch, with State taking a 2-1 victory in Starkville in 2014.
