- 2017 first round draft pick Brent Rooker was named the Florida State League and Minnesota Twins Player of the Week and the for the week of August 7, batting .364 with three home runs and 13 RBIs for the Fort Myers Miracle. His 13 home runs leads all 2017 MLB Draft picks.
- Chris Stratton tossed 10 strikeouts over 6.2 innings against Washington on Sunday as the Giants won 4-2.
- Starting pitchers Ben Bracewell and Dakota Hudson faced off as the Nashville Sounds visited the Memphis Redbirds. Both former Diamond Dawgs lasted seven innings as Nashville edged the Redbirds 6-5.
- 2017 draft pick Ryan Gridley started at shortstop for the North team in the NY Penn League All-Star Game on Tuesday. On the season, Gridley is batting .268 with a .373 on-base percentage and 17 RBIs.
- Adam Frazier came up clutch for the Pirates two days in a row, knocking a game-tying RBI triple on Tuesday and a go-ahead RBI single on Wednesday.
- Kendall Graveman (Oakland) and Brandon Woodruff (Milwaukee) are projected to start for their major league clubs on Saturday.
