Children's of Mississippi Kid Coach of the Week: Caden Ragan
April 06, 2017 | Baseball
Kid Coach is a partnership between Children's of Mississippi and the Mississippi State Bulldogs to honor pediatric patients and celebrate their inspirational stories. This week, our Children's of Mississippi Kid Coach is Caden Ragan of Starkville.
When Kaylee and Colton Ragan adopted their son, they were told of the difficulties they would likely face. Caden was born prematurely, weighing a mere 1 pound, 3 ounces. After a five-month stay in a neonatal intensive care unit out of state, the Ragans were ready to bring Caden home to Mississippi. Because he was diagnosed with chronic lung disease and a heart condition, they knew Caden would need the care of specialists at Children's of Mississippi.
Several hospital stays and surgeries later, Caden is a 25-pound toddler defying the odds! He still requires a feeding tube for extra nutrition, but Kaylee and Colton are hopeful his oral eating will continue to increase.
Caden is sharp as a tack and full of energy! He can usually be found playing toy trucks with his big brother Collins or watching his favorite movie, "Mickey Mouse on the Farm."
