BATON ROUGE, La. – At the inaugural SEC Relays, the Bulldogs captured five victories and accumulated 84 team points to finish fourth overall.
In an event designed to test the skills of the teams in the Southeastern Conference before the SEC Outdoor Championships, MSU passed the test and proved they belong in the best track conference in the nation.
After Logan Boss picked up a high jump victory Friday, Saturday began with top collegiate javelin unit taking first and second. Nicolas Quijera won with a throw of 73.36m, and Curtis Thomspon finished just behind him at 70.58m

The next squad to pick up a victory came when MSU's shuttle hurdle group of Willie Reed, Herbert Wise, JaQuarius Wilson and Ro'Derick Spears won with a time of 57.43.
MSU's DMR group continued with the hot streak they have been on throughout 2017, and picked up a victory Saturday with a time of 11:20.59 which is the third best time in program history.
Tiffany Flynn improved upon her school record in a triple jump victory, jumping 13.37m. Freshman Alexis Farley also improved upon her program freshman record and grabbed fourth, jumping 12.95m which is the second best mark in school history.

Freshman Stephen Jones ran the best time of any newcomer in the 1500m, running 4:01.16 to finish eighth overall.
"I am really, really happy with the way we competed this weekend," MSU coach Steve Dudley said. "This conference is so good and so deep, that if you come to a meet like this not ready reality can sink in really fast. I thought we were focused the entire time, and that showed with how many fantastic performances we had. I told the team today, all the meets from here on out will result in a team score. I think we will be ready for that challenge, and I am excited to see how this group handles it."
