Children's of Mississippi Kid Coach of the Week: Josh Sexton
April 27, 2017 | Baseball
Kid Coach is a partnership between Children's of Mississippi and the Mississippi State Bulldogs to honor pediatric patients and celebrate their inspirational stories. This week our Children's of Mississippi Kid Coach is Josh Sexton of Florence.
In January 2016, Josh was diagnosed with a form of bone cancer known as osteosarcoma. With the care of the oncology team and other specialists at Children's of Mississippi, he immediately began chemotherapy. In an attempt to stop the cancer from spreading, Josh's right arm had to be amputated.
Despite these challenges, Josh remains positive and never really lets anything get him down. He completed his chemotherapy treatment in October and will continue to undergo regular bone scans.Â
Josh loves football, baseball, and playing Xbox. The nine-year-old holds big plans for his future, saying he wants to be a professional athlete, to sing, and to compete in the Paralympic Games in swimming and track and field.
