MSU Travels To Birmingham For SEC Championship
April 20, 2017 | Women's Golf
STARKVILLE, Miss. – After completing the regular season earlier this month at the Clemson Invitational, the Mississippi State women's golf team now turns its attention to post-season play at the Southeastern Conference Championship in Birmingham.
Â
The tournament will once again be held at the prestigious Legacy course at Greystone Golf and Country Club for the fifth-consecutive year.  The par-72 course features Zoysia fairways and Bent Grass greens providing a challenge to all players. With tough pin placement and some holes 450 yards from the tee, the familiar Legacy will provide a healthy respect to the golfers this weekend.
Â
The Bulldogs must play well to keep their NCAA tournament hopes alive, as they currently sit on the bubble.
Â
Mississippi State's lineup features two seniors, Jessica Peng and Ji Eun Baik, along with two freshman Teri Doss and Ela Grimwood. Lone sophomore Katie Holt joins the bunch as well. Peng, who leads MSU with her 72.4 scoring average, won the UCF Challenge this season.
Â
The event is slated for April 21-23 and will feature all 14 SEC schools, six in the Top 20, including top-ranked and defending champion Alabama. Â
Â
Mississippi State will tee off at 9 a.m. CT. The tournament is open to the general public. Fans can also follow live scoring at golfstat.com and on social media @HailstateWG.Â
