No. 15 MSU Continues Rivalry Against No. 49 Ole Miss Saturday

STARKVILLE, Miss. – Riding a 10-match win streak into Saturday's home contest against 49th-ranked Ole Miss (7-6, 2-4 SEC), the 15th-ranked Mississippi State men's tennis team (14-3, 5-0 SEC) looks to continue its momentum as the Bulldogs and Rebels fight for in-state bragging rights at 3 p.m. CT.
Saturday's match at the A.J. Pitts Tennis Centre will open a five-match homestand for the Bulldogs as MSU faces Ole Miss, Georgia, Tennessee, Texas A&M and LSU during the homestretch.
"Our guys are very excited for tomorrow's match, it's not hard to get up for your in-state rival," head coach Matt Roberts said. "We know our great fans will pack out A.J. Pitts and we'll need their energy tomorrow against Ole Miss. We're playing great tennis right now, so it should be a fun match to watch."
Last time out, MSU cruised past Arkansas on Thursday night in Fayetteville as the Bulldogs won 4-1. Vaughn Hunter turned in a stellar performance in the win as the senior clinched the match after a three-set victory in singles action. The South African lefty was also responsible for the doubles point as Hunter and partner Mate Cutura took down their Razorback foes.
Who To Watch For MSU
No. 8 Nuno Borges continued his impressive play as the sophomore picked up his 13th ranked win of the season after downing Arkansas' No. 10 Mike Redlicki in straight sets. Borges also earned his 30th career dual-match victory as the Bulldog improved to 11-2 in dual-match play on the season.
Previewing The Rebels
Saturday's opponent Ole Miss enters the contest 7-6 overall after the Rebels shutout Auburn at home on Thursday. The win snapped a four-match losing skid for the Rebels and moved their record above .500.
Who To Watch For Ole Miss
The Rebels have one ranked player in singles and one ranked doubles team in this week's ITA National Rankings. No. 38 Gustav Hansson leads the team in singles play, while No. 13 Fabian Fallert and Grey Hamilton tops the team in doubles action.
