No. 25 MSU Women’s Tennis Travels To No. 23 Tennessee Friday

STARKVILLE, Miss. – After a thrilling 4-1 upset over 15th-ranked Arkansas Sunday, the 25th-ranked Mississippi State women's tennis team (10-4, 3-3 SEC) continues Southeastern Conference play Friday, travelling to face the 23rd-ranked Tennessee Volunteers (14-6, 1-5 SEC). The match is slated for a 5 p.m. CT start at UT's Barksdale Stadium.

The Bulldogs are looking to keep their recent momentum going after blanking No. 42 Missouri, 4-0, and upsetting the No. 15 Razorbacks, 4-1, in front of elated home crowds in Starkville. After those wins, State climbed 16 spots in this week's ITA national rankings.
State's 32nd-ranked All-American Jasmine Lee went a combined 4-0 over the weekend, aiding MSU in its two ranked victories. Lee recorded a ranked singles win, which aided in her 25-spot jump in the ITA Singles Rankings in the last two weeks of action.
True freshmen Bulldogs Sara Lizariturry and Lisa Marie Rioux also contributed greatly in both victories with wins at their respective positions. Moving up to the No. 2 position in singles, Rioux went a combined 4-0 on the weekend including her first career victory against a ranked opponent in singles. Lizariturry provided both match-clinching victories for the Bulldogs at the No. 6 position.
The MSU lineup is rounded out with Madison Harrison, Anastasia Rentouli and Khrystyna Vozniak who all have at least one SEC victory in either singles or doubles this spring.
State's 11th-ranked pair of Lee and Rioux look to build on their 10-3 dual match and 3-2 SEC records at the No. 1 position.
Tennessee enters Friday's match after falling in both its matches this past weekend at No. 24 South Carolina, 4-3, and No. 1 Florida, 4-0.
In singles, UT is led by 58th-ranked Brittany Lindl at the No. 1 position. On the doubles side, the Volunteers boast the nation's 74th-ranked duo of Lindl and Eve Repic.
