STARKVILLE, Miss. – Fresh air, sunshine and clear skies were abound as Mississippi State kicked off the outdoor season at the Mike Sanders Track and Field Complex Friday.

Bulldogs captured victories in six events at the meet which features 10 teams from across the southeast.

On the women's side, Mia Meydrich posted a time of 4:29.05 in the 1500m in a victory. The ladies also won the 1600m sprint medley relay and 400m shuttle hurdle. McKenzie Ethridge, Keturah Smith, Alon Lewis and Alyssa Staubach posted a time of 4:08.70 in the SMR victory while Tiffany Flynn, Shayla Broughton, Leah Lott and Zaria Tillman ran 55.51 in the shuttle hurdle.

Freddie Jackson took home a victory in the 800m dash after posting a time of 1:52.76. The men also claimed victory in the 4x200m relay and 1600m SMR. Lawrence Crawford, Juston Waters, Charles Taylor and Philip Smith posted time of 1:23.95 in the 4x200 while Willie Reed, Josh Willingham, Rasheed Tatham and Daniel Nixon ran 3:23.41 to win the SMR.

"It was a great day for us all around," MSU coach Steve Dudley said. "We love getting the chance to race in front of our fantastic Bulldog fans. We had tremendous weather, and it was just a great day on the track. We look forward to getting the chance to do it all over again tomorrow and encourage anyone in the area to come out and experience what collegiate track is all about."
