MSU Women’s Tennis Set To Host Minnesota Wednesday Afternoon

STARKVILLE, Miss. – To close out its current four-match homestand, the Mississippi State women's tennis team (5-1) hosts the Minnesota Gophers (5-3) on Wednesday. The match is slated for a 2 p.m. CT start time at MSU's A.J. Pitts Tennis Centre.
The Bulldogs are looking to extend a three-match win streak after blanking South Alabama 4-0 and downing Alcorn State 6-1 on Sunday.
Looking to keep their dual-match singles records spotless, true freshmen Lisa Marie Rioux and Sara Lizariturry both sport undefeated records (5-0 and 3-0, respectively) in their initial campaigns as Bulldogs.
The rookie Rioux teams up with senior Jasmine Lee to compose the nation's eighth-ranked doubles tandem. The duo has posted a 5-1 dual match record at the No. 1 position and are 13-2 overall.
On the singles side, State's All-American Lee, ranked No. 73 at present, leads the team at the No. 1 position with a 5-1 record. Sophomore Anastasia Rentouli posted her third dual match victory of the season on Sunday, while junior Madison Harrison notched her second one. Junior Jennifer Brown rounds out the lineup for the Bulldogs.
Wednesday's match will kick off a three-match road trip for Minnesota. In its own doubleheader Sunday, Minnesota held of Memphis 4-3 before shutting out South Dakota 7-0. The Gophers are led by Caroline Ryba with a 3-2 record at the No. 1 position.

MSU hits the road to take on Georgia State in Atlanta on Saturday, Feb. 25, at 1 p.m. CT to close out 2017 non-conference play. State will host Auburn (March 3) and Alabama (March 5) to open this spring's Southeastern Conference action.
