
Bulldogs Host Oregon Wednesday In Top 10 Showdown

STARKVILLE, Miss. – Humphrey Coliseum will play host to a Top 10 women's basketball matchup on Wednesday as No. 5/3 Mississippi State faces No. 9 Oregon.
Tickets for the game cost $5 for adults and $3 for youth age 17 and under. Bully's Kids Club members get free admission with a valid membership ID card.
Wednesday will also be Christmas at the Hump, with Little Debbie Christmas Tree Cakes being given away to the first 500 fans. Fans can also have pictures made with Santa, and children can join him on the court at halftime for a reading of "The Night Before Christmas."
For fans unable to make it to the Hump, the contest will be televised on the SEC Network with Pam Ward, Gail Goestenkors and Steffi Sorensen on the call.
Jason Crowder and Charlie Winfield will bring the action via radio on WKBB-FM and WFCA-FM in the Golden Triangle and surrounding areas, as well as WVBG-FM in Vicksburg. Fans can also listen to the audio stream online at HailState.com/plus and the TuneIn app.
The teams are meeting for the second-straight year and third time overall. The Bulldogs won 75-63 last season at the Rainbow Wahine Showdown in Honolulu, Hawaii. Wednesday's game will actually be the first time the teams have gone toe-to toe-on a non-neutral court, as State won the first meeting 68-64 at the 1997 Kona Classic in Hawaii.
Vic Schaefer's Bulldogs enter the game with a 9-0 record after defeating Little Rock 86-48 last Sunday. The Dawgs are one of only 12 undefeated teams in the nation and one of two unbeaten squads in the SEC.
Senior Victoria Vivians recorded her first double-double of the season with 12 points and 10 rebounds against Little Rock. She enters Wednesday third in the SEC in scoring with 19.0 points per game.
Junior Teaira McCowan also claimed a double-double against the Trojans, her fifth of the year, with 13 points and 11 boards. The nation's 10th-best rebounder at 11.6 rpg, McCowan averages a double-double for the year as she adds 15.4 ppg to her rebounding total.
Morgan William had the hot hand for MSU the last time out, tallying a season-high 16 points after knocking down 15 in a Dec. 3 win against Oklahoma State. William, who rates fourth nationally in assists with 5.2 per game, has scored at a 15.5 ppg clip the last two games.
MSU rates third in the SEC and 23rd nationally in scoring with 82.9 ppg this season. The Dawgs have gotten it done on the defensive end as well, rating 14th in the country and second in the SEC allowing 53.0 ppg. State has also done a stellar job forcing turnovers, ranking sixth in the nation with a +8.7 turnover margin.
The Bulldogs will need a stellar defensive effort against an Oregon squad that is 8-1 on the season and ranked third nationally in scoring offense at 90.8 ppg.
Four Ducks average double figures, led by Sabrina Ionescu's 17.1 ppg. Ruthy Hebard tallies 15.3 ppg while pacing the team on the boards with 8.8 rpg.
