STARKVILLE, Miss. – Championship season is upon the Mississippi State women's cross country team as the Bulldogs head to the SEC Championships looking for their fourth-straight Top 5 finish at the event.
"We are excited about SECs. The team is ready to run well coming off two really good regular season races where we have put the pieces together," MSU coach Houston Franks said.
Hosted by Georgia, the women's 6K run will be ran at the UGA Golf Course with a start time of 10 a.m. CT on Friday.
All 14 member schools will field a women's team with Arkansas, Georgia and in-state foe Ole Miss being the only ranked teams.
"The SEC is one of the best conferences in the country. It is always a battle, but we are ready," coach Franks said.
Junior Shannon Fair has paced the Bulldog squad this season with three Top 10 finishes including a winning effort at the Falcon Classic in September.
On the season MSU has grabbed three Top 10 finishes including wins at the Golden Eagle Cross County Invite and the Falcon Classic.
The SEC Championship marks the final tune up effort for MSU before NCAA Regionals on Nov. 10 in Tuscaloosa.
