BATON ROUGE, La. – Another successful weekend at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Southern Regional Championships is in the books as the Mississippi State doubles tandem of Niclas Braun and Trevor Foshey finished runner-up for the second consecutive year.
Braun and Foshey, the top seed and ranked seventh nationally, dropped a hard-fought 6-4, 6-4 decision to Ole Miss' Zvonimir Babic and Filip Kraljevic, a 5-8 seeded duo.
The match capped off a tournament in which the Bulldogs brought home the singles title for the second consecutive year. Strahinja Rakic and Giovanni Oradini earned automatic bids to the Oracle ITA National Fall Championships in Indian Wells, Calif., after sharing the singles championship on Monday, both reaching the finals.
They will join State's second-ranked All-American Nuno Borges, who is expected to earn a wild card spot in the prestigious tournament which will run Nov. 1-5. Borges won the ITA Southern Regional title last fall.
