MSU’s Borges Opens Harlingen USTA Futures With Victory

HARLINGEN, Texas – Nuno Borges got off to a great start in the USTA Futures tournament in Harlingen, Texas, on Wednesday.

MSU's All-American breezed through his first-round match against Ricardo Rodriguez (ATP 811) of Venezuela 6-1, 6-1.

Borges advances to Thursday's Round of 16, where he'll face another tough test against the Australian Alexei Popyrin (ATP 786) on Thursday. Start time for that match has yet to be determined.

In addition to Borges' action in Harlingen, six other Bulldogs will be playing in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Southern Regional Championships in Baton Rouge, La. Newcomer Hunter Harrison opens things up for MSU in the singles qualifying draw on Thursday at 10 a.m.
