
No. 18 Cross Country Takes Second At Memphis Twilight

STARKVILLE, Miss. – Kicking off 2016 in style, the No. 18 Mississippi State women's cross country team claimed second at the Memphis Twilight with a total time of 1:29:08.93. The Bulldogs had one of the strongest showings of any team at the event, placing the most runners inside the Top-10 with four.
Leading the way for the Bulldogs, sophomore Antonia Hehr recorded a 5K time of 17:21.78 to finish third overall while also shaving nearly a full minute off her personal-record. Her teammate Shannon Fair, who also recorded a new personal best, finished just behind her in fifth place with a time of 17:25.83.
After winning the event last season, All-American Rhianwedd Price finished in sixth place with a time of 17:33.12. Making her first appearance in Maroon and White, freshman Stephanie Peterson rounds out the Bulldogs in the Top-10 with a 10th-place finish. She completed the event in 17:54.39.
The other five Bulldogs to compete in the event all finished inside the Top-100 to secure MSU's second-place finish. Sophomore Kristy Terp finished 50th with a time of 18:53.81 while freshman Emma Tucker placed 51st in her first action as a Bulldog, completing the race in 18:54.39. Sophomore Carly Terp, freshman Alex Wallace and freshman Adrienn Veisz all finished in less than 20 minutes.
The MSU men also had a strong showing at the Memphis Twilight, placing fourth in the four-mile event with a total time of 1:42:54.12. Junior Aaron Phelps ran the best time among the MSU men, completing the race in 20:21.80. Eryk Yunk and Quintin Reiser finished 25th and 26th, respectively, while Stephen Jones and JT Mackay placed 35th and 36th. Caden Foos and Chandler Underwood also finished inside the Top-100.
MSU returns to action Sept. 17 at the Commodore Classic in Nashville, Tenn.
