MSU Posts Undefeated Saturday At Southern Intercollegiate

ATHENS, Ga. – On the second day of action at the Southern Intercollegiate, the Mississippi State men's tennis team earned two quality wins as the Bulldogs went undefeated in singles and doubles play on Saturday.
The first match of the day pitted the duo of Vaughn Hunter and Trevor Foshey against Oklahoma's Florin Bragusi and John Millstead. The Bulldog tandem dispatched the Sooner pair easily, as Hunter and Foshey cruised to a 6-1 win. MSU's doubles team faces host Georgia's pair of Will Montgomery and Robert Loeb on Sunday in round of 16 action.
Senior Hunter carried his momentum over to singles play following the doubles win as he downed Virginia Tech's Henrik Korsgaard, 7-6(3), 6-1. The Bulldog faces Louisville's George Hedley in the quarterfinals of the Division II singles draw on Sunday. Hunter is now 5-1 in singles play at the Southern Intercollegiate, dating back to 2015.
"I am proud of how Vaughn and Trevor have performed this weekend,' head coach Matt Roberts said. "They've competed and beat out some quality opponents at the Southern Intercollegiate and each match is another chance for us to develop and get better."

Following the Southern Intercollegiate, the Bulldogs will compete in the ITA All-American Championships in Tulsa, Okla. Six Bulldogs will compete at the event, with pre-qualifying play beginning on Oct. 1 while the main draw runs Oct. 6-10.
