Bulldogs Drop Road Test To Ole Miss
September 22, 2016 | Soccer
OXFORD, Miss. – Marking the first meeting between the two soccer programs since Sept. 19, 2014, Mississippi State (5-5-0, 0-3-0) couldn't overcome Ole Miss (6-5-0, 1-2-0 SEC) as the Rebels downed the Bulldogs, 3-0.
"We didn't have what it took tonight to defeat a team like this," head coach Aaron Gordon said. "Tip your hat to Ole Miss, because they did what they needed to win tonight. This is a tough one, but we are going to reset and turn our focus to Missouri on Sunday."
Ole Miss came out of the gate to earn its first goal, as junior Liza Harbin scored in the fifth minute off an assist from Maddi Falter. MSU performed well defensively after the score, as the Bulldogs held Ole Miss off the board for the remainder of the half.
A pair of scores from CeCe Kizer in the 56th and 64th minutes stretched Ole Miss' lead to 3-0, as the Rebels sealed its first win in conference.
