No. 19 Cross Country Prepares for Commodore Classic

STARKVILLE, Miss. – With the season now in full swing, the No. 19 Mississippi State cross country team prepares to travel north for the Commodore Classic and its first opportunity to compete against conference foes in earnest.
"This is a really, really big meet," MSU coach Houston Franks said. "It is a chance to compete against a lot of the ranked team's from the region, as well as a lot of team's from the SEC. It will also be the first meet where most of our team is competing."
Mississippi State began the season two weeks ago by placing second in the Memphis Twilight with four Bulldogs finding their way into the Top-10, the most by any institution competing. The MSU men also competed in the event, placing fourth overall.
Antonia Hehr and Shannon Fair were MSU's top performers, finishing third and fifth, respectively. Each athlete recorded a personal record in the 5K event to pace the Bulldogs.
