Renfroe Named Pacific Coast League Most Valuable Player

STARKVILLE, Miss. – Former Diamond Dawg Hunter Renfroe continues to shine in Triple-A Baseball as his latest accomplishment includes being named the 2016 Pacific Coast League Most Valuable Player, the league office announced Thursday.
Renfroe secured two-thirds of the votes from the league's field managers and media representatives.
Currently a member of the El Paso Chihuahuas, Renfroe was named to the All-PCL Team Monday and currently ranks second in the league with 29 home runs and 104 runs batted in. Earlier this summer the Crystal Springs, Miss. native participated in the All-Star Futures Game on July 10 and the Triple-A midsummer classic on July 13.
In 128 games, Renfroe leads all Triple-A players in extra-base hits (68) and total bases (290), while ranking second in home runs (29) and RBIs (104). The 24-year-old has also collected 159 hits (.306 batting average), the second-most among Triple-A players, with a .559 slugging percentage and 94 runs scored, both of which rank third.
Drafted 13th overall by the San Diego Padres in the 2013 MLB Draft, Renfroe led Mississippi State to the 2013 College World Series with his most memorable moment having come on a three-run homer that lifted MSU over No. 3 Oregon State and into the championship series. Renfroe finished the year hitting .345 with 16 home runs, 35 extra-base hits and 65 RBIs.
