Thirty-three Former Diamond Dawgs in Pro Baseball

STARKVILLE, Miss. – Thirty-three former Mississippi State baseball players are currently in professional baseball, including four currently playing in the MLB. Below are their updated stats following games which ended Tuesday, August 9, 2016. Please tweet any corrections to @HailStateBB.
- On July 31, Mitch Moreland was named American League Player of the Week after hitting .455 for the week with a 1.136 slugging percentage, clubbing five home runs and driving in nine runs. The 30-year-old led the Major Leagues in homers and slugging, tied for the lead in RBIs, and he was second in batting average in the AL. Moreland's Rangers currently hold the best record in the AL (67-47) and have a seven-game lead in the West division.
- Adam Frazier continues to make himself at home in Pittsburgh after having been called up to the Pirates on June 24. Frazier has hit .311 with the club through 29 games, with eight extra-base-hits and seven RBIs.
- Promoted to the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders (AAA) on July 21, Jonathan Holder has posted a 1.08 ERA with 12 strikeouts through 8.1 IP. Holder most-recently collected a win in his first decision with the RailRiders on August 10 after having struck out two in the top of the ninth of a 2-2 game.
- Fresh off of an All-American season in 2016, 34th overall pick Dakota Hudson was assigned to the Palm Beach Cardinals (A) on August 7. Hudson made his first appearance with the club later that day, striking out the side in one innings of relief work.
- Zac Houston has also climbed the ranks quickly as he was promoted to the West Michigan Whitecaps on July 23 and since the assignment has posted a 1.04 ERA with 11 strikeouts and two saves in 8.2 IP.
