Junior right-hander Jamie Gant (1-0, 1.29 ERA) of Winona, Miss., was takenby the houston Astros in the 29th round, junior lefty Brooks Dunn (6-3, 4.50ERA) of Birmingham, Ala., was a 43rd round pick of the Chicago White Sox,catcher/infielder Thomas Berkery (.302, 7 HR, 55 RBI) of Sarasota, Fla., wasselected in the 46th round by the Texas Rangers, and outfielder JosephHunter (.348, 1 HR, 31 RBI) of Germantown, Tenn., went to the Clevelandindians in the 48th round.
Also chosen in the 48th round and by the New York Yankees was MSU baseballsignee Andy Rice of Amory, Miss., and Itawamba (Miss.) Community College.
MSU junior outfielder Brad Corley (.316, 5 HR, 40 RBI) was the first Bulldogand the first Mississippian selected in the 2005 draft, going to thePittsburgh Pirates in the second round.
