COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Sprinters Pierre Browne and Marquis Davis along with distance runner Tiffany McWilliams advanced into two finals each at the inaugural NCAA Mideast Track Regional.
The Memphis junior Davis ranked first in both the 100m and 200m, clocking in at 10.16 and 20.80, respectively. Senior teammate Browne finished second in both races, with a 10.16 in the 100m and a 20.96 in the 200m.
Sophomore Tiffany McWilliams led the field in the 1500m run with her time of 4:14.66. She then ranked second in the 800m at 2:02.92. The NCAA indoor mile runner-up is looking to win double championships for the second straight meet.
Four other Bulldogs advanced to Saturday's finals as well. Senior hurdler Kelvin Harris, running his first hurdles race in two months, had the second-fastest time in the 110-meter hurdles in Friday's preliminaries. His time of 13.73 on the Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium Track set a new MSU record in the event and puts him into the finals.
Sophomore Glenn McFadden ranked fourth in the 200m (21.29) to make the finals. LaChristopher Lewis and Keston Nelson finished fifth (46.81) and eighth (46.77) in the 400m dash, both making the final cut.
Auburn leads the men's team competition with 28 points through five events. Through four events on the women's side, Michigan leads with 23 points.
