Magloire is a two-time all-state selection in cross country and at one point last season held the Florida state record in the three-mile cross country race. The Tallahassee Democrat named her the All-Big Bend cross country athlete of the year after her senior season as well as just named as All-Big Bend track athlete of the year.
Her best finish individually at the state cross country meet was fourth as a junior, where she helped her team to a third-place finish. Magloire was selected as the area's Wendy's High School Heisman female athlete of the year.
Her accomplishments in track include four individual state titles, three in the 800 meters. Her best-reported time in the 800m is 2:16, while she has been clocked at 5:04 in the 1600m.
"Zita is a tremendous pickup," said head coach Al Schmidt. "She could have an impact right away here at Mississippi State."
Magloire has helped Lawton Chiles High School and head coach Scott Gowan to a third-place team finish at state this past season and a fourth-place finish as a junior. The first female athlete to sign a scholarship from Chiles, she was voted by the senior class as their athlete of the year.
A two-year member of the National Honor Society, Magloire will graduate Wednesday from Chiles with a cumulative 4.1 GPA.
Zita Magloire is the daughter of Harriet Paul and Gerard Magloire.
