No. 11 Men's Sprint Relays Finish Second On Final Day Of Penn Relays
May 25, 2016 | Track & Field
The sprint relay team of freshman Glenn McFadden, sophomore Marquis Davis, senior Dion Crabbe and junior Pierre Browne tied the school record in the 4x100m relay Saturday. The team rounded the oval at Franklin Field in 39.12, tying the school record set in 1986.
However, the team could not overcome Tennessee's relay teams, who placed ahead of the Bulldogs in both the 4x100m and 4x200m Championship of American races on Saturday. MSU's unit finished just 4/100 seconds behind Tennessee in the 4x100m.
In the 4x200m relay, the Bulldogs finished second with a time of 1:21.58, the third-best time in school history for the event.
"It would have been nice to win the Penn Relays races," said head coach Al Schmidt. "But we know that the most important ones are the next two, the SEC's and the NCAA's."
Schmidt added, "I also want to commend freshman LaChristopher Lewis for helping get to today's races. He did a tremendous job filling in for Glenn yesterday."
The Bulldogs and Lady Bulldogs have next weekend off to prepare to host the SEC Outdoor Track & Field Championships. The country's premier conference championships begin Thursday, May 9 at W.O. Spencer Stadium/Carl Maddox Track in Starkville, Miss.
