May 25, 2016 | Women's Tennis
State, the 11th seed in the event, enters the tournament 5-15, 1-10 in SEC play, while Auburn finished the campaign 13-7 and 6-5 in conference action to win the SEC Western Division and take the No. 6 seed in the tournament.
The two teams battle for the second time Thursday morning at 9 a.m. CDT at the Maxcy Gregg Tennis Complex.
State dropped a hard-fought 6-1 decision to the Lady Tigers back on Mar. 17. State won at the No. 3 position as freshman Magdolna Rekasi claimed a three-set victory over Carolina Maurer. Head coach Tracy Lane's squad took three more matches to the full three sets before falling in the trio of contests to give AU the win.
The Lady Dogs look to pull the upset Thursday and advance to the second round of the event for the third straight year.
